How to Relive Arthritis

How to Relive Arthritis by Suellen Cazarez
Arthritis Relief

There are only a few concepts behind what causes and what will relieve arthritis. Though there are many kinds of arthritis, the main discomforts of arthritis are pain and swelling of the joints and connecting tissues immediately surrounding the joints.

One of the main ways to relieve arthritis is to take some type of anti-inflammatory medicine to relive the swelling and pain associated with arthritis. This can be a prescription anti- inflammatory drug or an over he counter anti-inflammatory such as Naproxen.

Many people have found that emu oil massaged into the affected areas will relieve arthritis quite effectively. Those that use this treatment say that emu oil applications can relieve arthritis pain within fifteen minutes. It should be noted however, that those most successful with emu oil also pair this topical treatment with other internal medications.

Emu oil has been shown to reduce pain, swelling and stiffness in joints that are close to the surface of the skin. This makes emu oil treatment for arthritis even more appropriate for those suffering from arthritis that effects the hands or feet, as these joints are surrounded by thin layers of flesh and skin.

Those that combine nutritional supplementation with the massaging of emu oil have noticed huge benefits and much greater control over managing their arthritis and the associated pain and swelling. Those that just used emu oil noticed some positive changes, but those that combined it with nutritional supplements enjoyed severl times the positive results as everyone else.

Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM have been shown to be powerful nutritional supplements when it comes to treating and relieving arthritis. Glucosamine is made from the shells of shellfish as well as refined corn. This medication stimulates cartilage cells and allows glucosaminoglycans and proteoglycans to be synthesized in the body. These chemicals helps the body to repair and rebuild damaged cartilage and other worn out joint components.

Chondroitin is actually a sulfated form of glycosaminoglycan that is composed of alternating sugars. It acts much the same way that glucosamine does, and can be useful to use in conjunction with glucosamine. Chondroitin sulfate is a major structural component of cartilage and provides much of its resistance to compression.

MSM is a natural sulfur compound that is found in all living things and is the third most prominent compound found in the body, after water and sodium. MSM is an essential dietary sulfur compound previously almost overlooked by doctors and scientists until more recently when it was isolated by Dr. Stanley Jacob of the University of Oregon Medical School and Robert Hershler.

Another way to help relieve arthritis is to take a nice hot bath with Epsom salts. Feel free to add some essential oils for a more therapeutic bath as well as a nice smelling one. Essential oils of grapefruit, black pepper and eucalyptus have been shown to penetrate skin and relieve stiffness and swelling of joints.
