Treatment of Keloid Scars

Treatment of Keloid Scars by Greg Culver

If you are suffering from keloid acne scars then you can understand the frustration and annoying situations that you have to face due to this problem. Such acne scars tell the story in advance about the coming future of skin with scars all over the face. Some people think that the acne scars will only leave divots in the flesh but that's not true as some marks like keloid scars have reverse effect on the skin.

Unlike other acne scars keloid scars are raised above the surface of the skin due to the overgrowth of flesh at the spot where the skin is damaged by pimples or acne. Such keloid scars develop on the skin and the area is left with a raised scar that is difficult to treat even after the skin is completely healed.

As the skin around the keloid scar rises the keloid scar tends to become less and less noticeable over time. Some people use the successful technique of using pressure to reduce the appearance of an acne keloid scar. You can make the keloid scar unnoticeable in a week time if you apply pressure to the raised area for a period of five minutes for three times each day.

Although you can try but the pressure technique doesn't work in all cases. The other way to treat keloid scar is by freezing the area affected by the scar. Moreover this is a painless procedure rather than applying pressure. You can also use other relatively pain-free approach to remove keloid scars using the laser therapy.

You must consider all other options such as injections, radiation and surgery as the last method of treatment if nothing else works. First of all try pressure technique and then use freezing or laser treatment to cure the problem of keloid scars.

The main drawback of keloid scars is that they often tend to reappear after they have been removed but the good news is that they are not harmful. You may feel irritation or tingling sensation in them if you touch them.

Your first preference on seeing such a keloid scar on your skin should be to consult your doctor and don't try to diagnose the problem yourself. Your doctor can guide you about the problem and advise the best available treatment.
